It has captured industry attention as a showcase example of the power of PWAs to overcome the limitations of the web, keep customers engaged and drive revenue. These include Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) for fast loading ecommerce experiences, in Lancôme’s case, delivering early results of four times faster load time for AMP-enabled pages. New engagement technologies such as real-time web push notifications and one of retail’s first implementations of mobile web payments via Apple Pay are delivering extraordinary results: the average click-through rate for web push notifications is 9.8%, and the click-through rate for push notifications triggered by cart abandonment is 18%. This translates to direct revenue, Lancôme reports, as the conversion rate for shoppers who arrive on the site via a cart abandonment push notification is an impressive 8%. Mobile traffic overall is up 51% as a percentage of daily traffic, with bounce rate down 14% since launching the site late last year.
