Smartphones and Tablets Drive Nearly 7% of Total U.S. Digital Traffic

  • Non-computer traffic in America stood at 6.8 percent in August 2011, with approximately two-thirds of that traffic coming from mobile phones and tablets
  • 50% of the U.S. population used the mobile web, accessed applications, or downloaded mobile content in August 2011
  • 97% of tablet traffic came from iPad
  • Nearly 50% of tablet owners bought an item using their tablet
  • Android has a higher marketshare than iOS - but Apple still has more connected devices currently in use, thanks to the iPad
  • iOS has 59% of mobile browsing traffic vs 32% from Android
  • RIM has 5% of browsing traffic
