Mobile Will Account for 22% of Search Revenue in 2012

A new report predicts that by the end of 2012, mobile will account for 22% of total search revenues.

This works out to around $3.7 billion.

This incredible statistic is due entirely to the growth of the smartphone market. However, if you don’t have a mobile optimized site and are running PPC campaigns, you are wasting your money and hurting your Adwords Quality Score.

The report notes that:

- CTRs are still higher on desktop than on mobile.

- ROI is still about 50% less, due to lower mobile conversion rates.

- This is a considerable improvement over the ~90% less just a year ago.

However, these statistics are easily remedied with a good mobile site.

In fact, we have found that conversion rates on Mobify-powered mobile sites are almost equal that of their desktop counterparts. In some cases, mobile conversion rates are even higher than desktop, particularly in the case of tablets.
